VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE — As Racine County deputies were responding to a drunk driving incident Saturday in the Village of Yorkville, another drunk driver drove past, nearly striking a deputy, according to police.

About 2 a.m., Racine County Sheriff's deputies responded to a damaged silver Ram pickup truck in a ditch. It had struck a telephone pole on the 17300 block of Durand Avenue. The pole was knocked over with wires across the road, according to police.

Two people were inside the truck and uninjured. The driver, Scott Healy, 46, refused a field sobriety test and was arrested for operating while under the influence, first offense and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.

While deputies were on scene, a black, 2005 Cadillac Escalade drove past, nearly striking a deputy, according to police.

Deputies pulled over the vehicle. The driver, Steven Doughty, 52, completed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody for a first offense OWI and failure to move over or slow down for emergency vehicles.

Neither men have prior criminal offenses, according to court records.
