Police have a person of interest in custody in connection to two sexual assaults that happened recently near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus.
Police say the person is a 19-year-old man. He was arrested for a disorderly conduct incident that occurred on Tuesday, and is also a person of interest in the 4th degree sexual assaults that occurred near UWM's campus.
Two sexual assaults were reported near UWM Monday and Tuesday. The Monday assault happened in the 2700 block of N. Frederick Avenue when an unknown person grabbed a female from behind and fondled her.
On Tuesday, a suspect described as a 6 ft. tall black male grabbed a different female from behind and lifter her off the ground. This incident happened in the 3100 block of N. Oakland Avenue about 12:30 p.m.
Milwaukee police and UWM police are investigating.

The UW-Milwaukee Police Department has been working with Milwaukee police and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office on the investigation into the assaults near campus. As the investigation is ongoing, the university cannot comment on the matter in any detail. We can confirm, however, that the suspect is not a student at UWM. UWM remains committed to ensuring the safety of its students and all members of the campus community.
