OAK CREEK — The countdown to Christmas has begun, and people flocked to grocery stores to purchase their last-minute shopping items Tuesday morning.

Phil Kelley, the Store Director of Meijer in Oak Creek, said Christmas Eve is one of their busiest days.

"Delivery trucks probably are not going to get there today, so if you need something, come on in," said Kelley.

People stopped by to purchase grocery items, stocking stuffers, and gifts. Phil said some of the most popular toy items are Paw Patrol, Mega Blocks, and anything Frozen.

"Frozen is still the hottest thing going right now with Arendelle Castle," said Kelley.

Pat Coulter went to the store to pick up gifts for her fur babies.

"I am buying last-minute dog treats for my granddogs. I have one that is a puppy, and Bruno is nine years old," said Coulter.

She said she has a long list of things to do when she gets off from work, like wrapping gifts.

"I'm going to leave work probably at noon, don't tell anyone," said Pat.

Customers said they are ready to finish their holiday shopping and are looking forward to the best part of the holidays, being able to spend time with loved ones and friends.

Meijer is open until 7 p.m.
