MILWAUKEE — Pabst Theater Group will now serve Boxed Water instead of typical plastic bottles.

Environmental concerns are becoming more common in news headlines, and many companies are considering earth-friendly choices. Among them is Pabst Theater Group.

Through a new partnership with Boxed Water is Better, Pabst Theater Group is trying to preserve the planet. Boxed Water will replace all bottled water served at the Riverside Theater, Pabst Theater, Turner Ballroom and Back Room @ Colectivo.

With this change, Pabst Theater Group has the potential to divert more than 100,000 plastic water bottles from landfills annually. They hope this change will encourage other concert, entertainment and sports venues to consider minimizing their use of plastic.

"The decision to switch from bottled to boxed water was an easy one,” said Gary Witt, the CEO of Pabst Theater Group, in a news release. “Our climate is changing; the concern is real and it’s up to us to make personal and professional decisions that support a better world. Cutting plastic bottles is an important first step."

Box Water containers are 100% recyclable and BPA free. They also work alongside the National Forest Foundation to plant two trees every time a consumer posts a picture of their Boxed Water on social media with the hashtag #betterplanet. Since the campaign's inception, 821,000 trees have been planted.

Pabst Theater Group hopes to find even more ways to help halt climate change, but this is the first step.

"Cutting plastic bottles is an important first step and PTG intends to find more opportunities to be better stewards of our planet," said Witt.
