A letter sent to a soldier in Iraq 14 years ago by a fourth grader from Cedar Grove has come full circle.
While searching through his things from overseas, Ozaukee County Sheriff Jim Johnson came across that letter.
He noticed something familiar. It was sent to him by a current deputy.
"I said you know where that's from? He goes, ‘Yeah I must've sent it into the sheriff's office when I was a kid.’ I said, ‘no you sent it to Iraq you sent it to Baghdad.’ He goes ‘What?’ I said yeah you sent it to a soldier in Iraq. He goes, ‘oh.’ I said, ‘yeah that soldier was me’."
Johnson served over a year in Baghdad with the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
