MILWAUKEE — MILWAUKEE — Hattie Griggs is the only person who showed up for a free fitness class outside Fiserv Forum on Monday.

"It went good," she said of her cross training class on the plaza. She expects as more people hear about it, she’ll have more company.

The Bucks are launching a series of early morning, get up and move opportunities in the large outdoor space they’re calling the Deer District. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be yoga classes. Mondays are reserved for "Bootcamp By Ambrose."

Ambrose WB is an independent trainer leading the sessions.

"Pretty simple. A warm-up. Strength training some core, cardiovascular conditioning like track type of workouts," he said. "Stretching and a cooldown, and then we're done."

Monday the sun was shining, and the new arena glistening. The paving blocks that shape the plaza like a large backyard patio made it feel even warmer. It was an oasis in a bustling downtown, as WB’s lone student jumped, jogged and stretched through her individual workout. She’s planning to get some friends to come with her next time. "Yeah, that’s the plan," she said, adding, "If anyone would get up at 7 in the morning."

All the classes are free at 7 a.m. Click here for a list of dates, times and to get a downloadable waiver which you’ll need to sign before participating.
