Online message hints Boston Store may come back

MILWAUKEE -- All Boston Stores will officially close this week, but there's a hint that at least the Boston Store name may be back.

After liquidating much of their inventories, Boston Store and Carson's have both put on their websites that they are eyeing a comeback.

On the homepage of bostonstore.com, they say that the store is coming back. Carsons.com, owned by the same parent company, says the same thing.

The message on the Boston Store site reads, "We've got great news. Boston Store is coming back!"

Our partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal are reporting that the intellectual property of Bon-Ton, Boston Store's parent company, is in the process of being sold.

In a Friday statement to the Business Journal, the president of retail solutions at Great American Group Scott Carpenter—whose firm in charge of Bon Ton's liquidation—said:  "We cannot speak to the purchaser’s future plans with the company. All inquiries should be referred to the buyer, which will be disclosed once the transaction is closed."
