Three Milwaukee Police officers involved in pursuit, shooting incident Sunday

MILWAUKEE-- Investigators with the Milwaukee Police Department are working to determine the circumstances being a police pursuit that lead to an officer involved shooting Sunday.

Officers attempted to pull over a vehicle for reckless driving after 8 p.m. when it crashed into a light pole near the intersection of 47th and Hampton, according to Milwaukee Police Chief Alphonso Morales.

After crashing the vehicle, a 23-year-old man exited the car and fired shots at officers.

Three Milwaukee Police officers returned fire striking the suspect, authorities said. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital. He sustained grave injuries, authorities said.

The Wauwatosa Police Department will lead the investigation into the officer's use of force.
