MILWAUKEE — A woman was killed in a hit-and-run near Howell and Dover around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday night, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.
Officials said that they do not have a suspect at this time, but did release the following surveillance photo.
Police say the striking vehicle was last observed traveling south on South Howell Ave. from the scene.
Witnesses on the scene tell TODAY'S TMJ4 that they saw a car speeding down the street and strike the woman, drive off, and knock over a light pole.
Police on the scene did not confirm or deny this information; however, TODAY'S TMJ4 did see the light pole knocked on the ground.
Authorities believe the suspect's vehicle is a smaller square body SUV, possibly a Jeep Liberty or Dodge Nitro. Parts recovered at the scene are blue in color.
The vehicle may also have been equipped with a roof ladder or bicycle rack, which was dislodged in the crash. The vehicle likely has damage to the front passenger side light assembly and bumper.
