MILWAUKEE — On Sunday night, Milwaukee police and a suspect exchanged gunfire on the 4300 block of North 51st Boulevard, according to a police report.

Police noticed a reckless driver moving down North 51st Blvd and W. Capitol. The car in question came to a sudden halt to avoid hitting another vehicle. According to police, two officers approached the vehicle on foot. As they were doing so, several shots were fired from the car. One officer, a 24-year-old male who has been with MPD for five years, returned fire. No one was hit. The suspects fled in the vehicle and a pursuit ensued.
The chases ended near the 6000 block of W. Hampton Avenue. A 31-year-old male and 30-year-old female were arrested.

The officer who fired his gun was placed on administrative duty. This is an on-going investigation.
