Oak Creek city officials have approved an agreement to bring a $200 million Amazon distribution center to their city.
According to our partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal, the center is expected to bring 1,500 jobs.
The city will pledge $16.9 million in financing to support the 2.6 million-square-foot distribution center.
“This economic development deal is bringing the city its largest employer and its largest single property taxpayer,” city of Oak Creek Administrator Andrew Vickers told the Business Journal.
The center will be located near Ryan Road and I-94. It is scheduled to open in 2020 and have 1,500 workers by 2021.
This is the second major distribution center in southeast Wisconsin. Amazon has another center in Kenosha.
