MOUNT PLEASANT — There's not many pastries better than a kringle. Whatever flavor is your favorite, you can't really go wrong.

On Saturday, one of the companies famous for their delicious delights will turn 70.

"Another 70 years of O&H is really in the cards you know,” Eric Olesen said, the president and co-owner of O&H Danish Bakery said.

Olesen is a third generation owner. The company was started by his grandfather in 1949. In those 70 years not much has changed. The same family recipes are still being used today.

"We still make the dough the exact same way," he said. "Our fillings are scratch made. Our icings are scratch made."

The only thing that has changed is the size of the kitchen.

"Larger mixers larger tables larger ovens," Olesen said.

They've add a few more orders per week too.

"We sell eight to ten thousand kringles as week out of (the five) stores," Olesen said.

That doesn't include their online sales which Olesen said is the biggest revenue generator.

On Saturday, the bakery will host a party outside of its Mount Pleasant headquarters. There will be music, games for kids, a a food truck. The celebration goes from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will even feature a seven foot kringle.

The company is also baking its famous old fashioned kringle, but those are going fast. Olesen said the best way to secure one of those is by ordering it online.

As for the future of O&H Danish Bakery?

"Another 70 years of O&H is really in the cards you know.”

Olesen, a third generation kringle baker, said his kids are also into it, so it doesn't seem to far fetched the company will keep on baking for another 70 years.
