New restaurant owner promises "best tasting mac 'n cheese in Wisconsin'

Posted

MILWAUKEE -- The "best tasting mac 'n cheese in Wisconsin" is a big promise to keep, but restaurant owner Ashraf Mustafa is prepared to rise to the challenge.

Mustafa is the owner of the upcoming fast-casual eatery Mac Shack which will be located on the corner of Humboldt and Brady.

While everyone likes to add their own flair to the cheesy dish, Mustafa says the Shack will cater to all tastes: ranging from the Brady Street Mac (chili, hot dogs and fried onions) to a style dedicated to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo (cucumber sauce and two skewers of chicken).

The menu is expected to include 10 oven-fried macaroni and cheese dishes; customers also have the option to create-their-own, including a choice of five noodles or a cauliflower substitute.

"I've literally tried every bowl of mac 'n cheese, and I've gone out of my way to create something better," Mustafa told the Milwaukee Business Journal.

Mustafa hopes to have the Mac Shack up and running by the end of the year, but is awaiting official approvals from the city.

“Our food is really going to stand out,” Mustafa said. “It’s going to be weird, but the presentation is going to be amazing. It’s going to taste amazing.”
