MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Zoo welcomed two new lionesses Thursday.

Sunny and Amali aren't technically sisters, but they are now inseparable.

"They've been together since they were four months old," says Zookeeper Amanda Ista. "They're almost three year olds now, they'll be three in March and they act completely like sisters."

The two new lionesses made the trip together from Rochester, New York to Milwaukee, and have been adapting together in their new surroundings.

The zoo is now ready to show them off, and as we witnessed Thursday, area students were very excited to see them.

"She's pretty nice and I'd like to have a baby one," one student said.

The two lionesses are here to stay, and they plan to eventually introduce them to the other lions at the zoo.

"Eventually one of these girls we'll probably breed, but not any time in the near future," Ista says.
