As we near the time of year that bald eagles begin nesting, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources asks anyone who sees an eagle nest to report it.
Waukesha County Land Conservancy shared a photo from the DNR on Facebook that illustrates the amount of known eagle nests in all Wisconsin counties.
According to the graphic, there are zero nests in Milwaukee County, making it the only county in Wisconsin where no nests have been reported.
Monitoring eagle nests helps the DNR keep tabs on the population, as well as provide landowners with guidance on how to avoid impacting the nests.
Anyone who spots eagles engaging in nest-building activity, or an eagle nest itself is asked to report it to Bald Eagle Survey Coordinator Laura Jaskiewicz at laura.jaskiewicz@wisconsin.gov.
