NEENAH — A family from Neenah are heading back home to the U.S. after being stuck in China for weeks because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Daisy Roth and her two daughters boarded a flight from China Tuesday afternoon. Sam Roth, Daisy's husband, says the family stayed at the airport for 17.5 hours.
Pictures show travelers wearing masks and embassy officials in full body suits to protect themselves.
The family went to visit family in Wuhan for the Lunar New Year. Wuhan is the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, and Sam Roth, Daisy's husband says they had been stuck inside her family's home for days. They're expecting to land in California just before 6:00 a.m. Wednesday.
The State Department has imposed a 14-day quarantine for those returning to from China's Hubei province, so it could take some time for Sam to reunite with the rest of his family.
The coronavirus has sickened more than 24,000 and killed more than 490 people in China.
There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Wisconsin. The state has tested ten people for the virus, seven have come back negative, and the other three are still pending.
