MPD chase ends in three-car-crash involving squad car, suspect in custody

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Police say a 24-year-old man is in custody after leading police on a chase, and then t-boning a minivan, sending it into an MPD squad car.

The crash happened near Muskego Avenue and Mitchell Street around 5:42 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

According to police, officers observed a vehicle traveling recklessly near 20th St. and Greenfield Ave., and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Police say the driver fled at a high rate of speed and blew a red light at Muskego Ave., and Mitchell St.

TMJ4 obtained surveillance video, capturing the moments the driver t-boned a minivan, sending it into an MPD squad car waiting at the light.

It's the second time this week an innocent driver in Milwaukee is crashed into following a chase with the Milwaukee Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

The driver of the minivan, a 50-year-old, was taken to the hospital.

The occupants inside the MPD squad car, a 38-year-old and a 51-year-old, were also taken to a hospital.

According to police, a firearm and suspected illegal narcotics were located in the suspect's car.

Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
