16-year-old shot near Case High School, Mount Pleasant police say

Police are asking people to avoid the area of Oakes and Washington.

RACINE, Wis. — A 16-year-old boy was shot near Case High School around 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Police say they responded to the Delta Hotel on Washington Ave. for a report of shots fired. The teen was found suffering from a gunshot wound upon police arrival.

The teen was transported to the hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Family identified the teen as Zysean Golden.

16-year-old Zysean Golden was shot across from Case High School in Racine County on Wednesday.

Due to how close Case High School is to the hotel, the school was placed on a temporary lockdown.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is responding to an incident near the Delta hotel parking lot shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Families were waiting outside the school across the street from where police were investigating as they waited for students to come out.

Students were released from school on-time.

There are no suspects in custody at this time.
