An organization dedicated to helping first responders announced it has paid off the mortgage on the home of Appleton Firefighter Mitchell Lundgaard.

Mitch Lundgaard was killed in a shooting back in May. He left behind a wife and three young sons.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced Tuesday that in addition to Lundgaard's mortgage, the mortgages of five other first responders and soldiers would be paid off as well.

Tunnel to Towers said this comes less than a month after the foundation announced its plan to take on the Lundggard's mortgage.

Tunnel to Towers Foundation is an organization dedicated in the memory of a first responder who died in the September 11, 2001 attacks. The foundation helps offers financial help to first responders and promotes awareness about the September 11 attacks.
