MILWAUKEE — Waking up to thick blankets of fog Monday morning: it's the kind of weather that could lead to dangerous road conditions.
"Potentially it could create an absolutely terrible driving conditions," said Sergeant Kyle Amlong, Wisconsin State Trooper.
Sgt. Amlong said when there's fog the roads tend to be a little slick too.
"Slow down, especially when you’re taking on an off-ramp. [In] Waukesha County, someone took the off ramp too quick, they lost control, and they went into the ditch," Sgt. Amlong said.
Aside from slowing down and driving with care, Sgt. Amlong advises creating distance between your car and other vehicles on the road, turning headlights on, and of course the wipers if you need them.
This morning, there were at least three crashes on the interstate in Milwaukee County, one even temporarily shutting down I-43 near the Plainfield curve.
"I like to come to work and hear no crashes. I mean, ideally, that's what I'd like to do for my career. But unfortunately, we understand that people are going to crash," Sgt. Amlong said.
