MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee has been named on the best places to visit for a big trip in 2020, according to Thrillist.

Calling Milwaukee the "Brew City" and "City of Festivals," Thrillist named it one of the top 20 best places for a big trip in 2020.

The organization compiled a list of 20 locations, and wrote an itinerary and description for each of those locations.

In the Milwaukee article, the author says this year is Milwaukee's official "coming out party," due to the fact that we're hosting the Democratic National Convention this July.

"2020 is Milwaukee's time to shine, as the city puts its game face on with improved hotels, public transit, and new builds downtown in anticipation of the DNC," wrote Lacey Muszynski, the author of the article.

She goes on to inform readers NOT to visit Milwaukee during the DNC but to pick either the month before or after.

Muszynski writes, "Choose Summerfest -- an 11-day music festival on its own dedicated lakefront grounds -- if you're into seeing national acts for cheap while you dance on bleachers; or go with the Wisconsin State Fair in early August if you'd prefer to eat your weight in foods on a stick and cream puffs."

The author goes on to lay out an itinerary for anyone who wants to travel to the Brew City. She mentions things like taking in a Brewers game, staying at Saint Kate, and checking out our many distilleries. She even mentions make a stop in Madison for a few days on top of couple days in Chicago.
