The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office said there has been a significant increase in the homicides of school-aged children.
The office said that since Sept. 1, the medical examiner has investigated the homicides of 16 school-aged children.
That is an increase of over 200 percent from the same time frame in 2019, the office tweeted Monday.
Overall in the county, the medical examiner's office noted a 70 percent increase in homicides, if current trends continue.
If current trends continue, Milwaukee County on track to record a 70 percent increase in homicides, a 30 percent increase in OD's, and a 26 percent increase in motor vehicle fatalities.
