MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee's Hoan Bridge will be hit blue and white in honor of Hanukkah this week.
The special event is in partnership with the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.
The Hoan Bridge's arch will be lit blue and white and the support beams will flicker in red, orange and yellow, to represent the candles lit each night of Hanukkah.
The schedule is as follows:
- Dec. 10 at 7:00 p.m. - Lighting of the Shamash (helper candle) and first candle of the menorah
- Dec. 11 at 4:00 p.m. - Early lighting in honor of Jewish Sabbath and lighting of the second candle
- Dec. 12 at 7:30 pm - Lighting of the third candle
- Dec. 13 - 17 at 7 pm - Lighting of the remaining five candles
You can watch in person or via Instagram at @JewishMilwaukee.
The organization Light the Hoan oversees the newly installed lights along the bridge, in recognition of "unseen or under-celebrated acts of kindness, generosity, and service that give our city hope," according to their mission statement.
