Milwaukee's first cat cafe is officially set to open on Friday, June 1. Sip & Purr will celebrate the grand opening from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sip & Purr is separated into two sections to keep up with health code standards. The cafe side will offer coffee, wine and small bites. Customers can then take their snacks into the Cat Lounge side, complete with the company of adoptable cats.

Head pastry chef and kitchen manager Elizabeth Martin, previously with Wolf Peach, has created a menu fit for everyone.

Sip & Purr's owner and founder Katy McHugh says she wants everyone to be able to indulge. "Being gluten-free myself, I understand what a treat it is to be able to order almost anything on the menu," she continues.

The menu will also include wine, beer and Juice-TAILS, which are cold-pressed juice mixed with alcohol. Guests will be able to choose from Puss in Boots, Kitty Cocktail and Gigi, named after the cat in Amsterdam who inspired McHugh to open Sip & Purr.

The cat cafe has partnered with Lakeland Animal Shelter of Delavan, Wisconsin to provide adoptable cats. The cats arrive at Sip & Purr ready to adopt, including being spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

Guests are able to book one-hour reservations in the Cat Lounge at sipandpurr.com. Regular business hours will be Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will be closed on Tuesday.
