MILWAUKEE — As family and friends finished their three-day celebration of Officer Kou Her's life, some Milwaukee residents couldn't help but be frustrated over yet another Milwaukee officer's funeral.

"It's terrible," said Jerry Turriff, owner of Jerry's Certified Service. "Guy's on his way home from work and he can't even make it home."

Turriff and his daughter watched the procession go by his business near 43rd and Good Hope.

"It's sad," said Danielle Loiselle, Turriff's daughter. "Here's an officer going home and here's someone drunk and runs a red light and hits him and kills him. It's just not fair."

Those who put their lives on the line understand it's always a risk with the job.

"I'd be lying if it doesn't cross your mind when you come to work," said Lt. Daniel Zidek of the Milwaukee Fire Department. "But we have a job to do. Tragically, he was on his way home from work. His shift was over, but it just goes to show, even when we're on our way home, when we're off duty, we're never truly off duty."
