A Milwaukee police officer was shot Tuesday night after another officer's gun discharged during an arrest.
Milwaukee police said that officers were attempting to stop a vehicle believed to be wanted in association with another shooting incident in Milwaukee. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled and led officers on a brief pursuit.
The car broke down in the area of 8th and North Avenue and the suspect fled on foot.
Police said the suspect was located and a brief struggle ensued while he was being taken into custody. During the struggle, Milwaukee police said a shot was discharged from the arresting officer's firearm, hitting another officer.
Police are investigating the circumstances regarding the discharge.
The injured officer was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
