MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a two-car collision that left one woman dead.
The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, near N. 6th Street and W. Wisconsin Avenue.
Police say a 26-year-old man ran a red light and struck another vehicle, causing it to flip on its side.
The driver of the vehicle hit, a 29-year-old woman, was partially ejected from the vehicle and was trapped. She had to be extricated and taken to a local hospital for serious injuries. The medical examiner has confirmed the woman died Sept. 20, around 3:40 a.m.
Three others were also in the vehicle that was hit, a 28-year-old woman, a 34-year-old man and a 26-year-old man. They all suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver who ran the red light was a 26-year-old man. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was arrested.
According to police, criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the upcoming days.
