MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department, as part of its Keep MKE's Streets Safe initiative, is featuring a driver who has been arrested, charged, convicted and sentenced for felony reckless driving and/or fleeing.

Jaqueline Camarena, who was sentenced to five years in prison, was found guilty of the following felonies: driving or operating a vehicle without consent, attempting to flee or elude an officer, and robbery with use of force.

On Oct. 3, 2018, Camarena was involved in a robbery that occurred in the 2700 block of South 31st Street. Camarena pulled one of the victims out of the vehicle and began to physically attack her as another suspect attacked the passenger, according to an MPD news release.

After physically assaulting the victims, Camarena and the suspects stole the victim’s vehicle and fled, MPD said in its release.

On Nov. 18, 2018, police saw Camarena driving a different stolen vehicle in the 800 block of West Wright Street. That vehicle was also stolen in a robbery, police said. Officers activated their lights and sirens to conduct a traffic stop, but Camarena refused to pull over and led officers on a vehicle pursuit.

Camarena lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. She was taken into custody.

Camarena was convicted June 14.
