MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales will keep his job; however, the Fire and Police Commission gave him several directives and if those aren't met he could be fired, suspended, or demoted.

Those orders all have a tight deadline. These include such mandates as full audits and reports about incidents involving Sterling Brown and Vaun Mayes, among others. As well as a report about the use of force during recent protests.

It also requires Morales to come up with community-policing strategies and discipline standards for officers.

These directives were passed unanimously by the commission. Morales will have to give an update to the commission on Aug. 6 with the progress he has made.
