MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting where a 6-year-old was grazed by a bullet in the Franklin Heights neighborhood.

Police say they were called to the 3600 block of N. 25th Street shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday. Officers say the child suffered a graze wound when he got a hold of a gun inside the home and accidentally discharged it.

Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the upcoming days against a 79-year-old woman.

The Milwaukee Police Department would like to remind everyone to please secure all firearms with a gun lock or in a secure location to keep them out of the reach of children.
