MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee mother speaks out after her child and two others were hit by a driver that took off. A 6-year-old girl is dead. A 4-year-old and a 10-year-old are seriously hurt after the crash at 22nd and Center Street.

The mother of 10-year-old Drevyze said he was coming home from the park with his cousins and friends just in time for dinner.

“It was six kids in all. Three of them just didn’t make it across the street,” said Shanterika Rayford.

The mother said she made to the scene to see Drevyze put in an ambulance.

“It’s heartbreaking because it could have been my last time seeing him, like honestly,” said Rayford.

Rayford says her son is stable but she doesn’t know how badly he is hurt.

“Their injuries and the impact that they endured their bodies can’t hold up to it. Right now, we are hoping for the best outcome. But it seem good at all for neither,” said Rayford.

Witnesses say the crash looked and sounded horrific.

“I had seen three bodies on the ground,” said Areeyonea Long when she looked out on Center Street next to the Family Dollar store.

“It sounded like a long screeching sound. Like a loud screaming,” said witness Mary Brown.

Police said a gray 2007-2009 Saturn hit the children and then drove away.

“A little boy was crying over his little brother because he wasn’t getting up,” said Long.

The mother has a message tonight to that driver.

“If you are watching this. If you do have a chance to see it. You are wrong. There were innocent kids. You are very wrong,” said Rayford.
