Alaska Airline’s new seasonal flight service from Milwaukee to Portland, Oregon is now underway.

The first flight left Milwaukee just after 7 a.m. Tuesday morning.
"This was never a route we've ever had before and it's important for this community to have non-stop service to Portland," said Harold Mester with Mitchell International Airport.

About 50 passengers boarded the new flight Tuesday, including Karen Pletting. Karen and her husband flew to Milwaukee last week when the direct flight wasn't available.

"We landed at O'Hare International Airport and had a four-hour layover just to take a 16 minute flight to Milwaukee,"  said Pletting.

The seasonal daily non-stop flights to Portland International Airport will operate this summer from June 5 through August 26.

Mitchell International Airport says the flights will be operated with WiFi equipped Embraer E175 jets, featuring 12 seats in first class, 12 seats in premium class, and 52 seats in the main cabin.
The new Milwaukee-Portland nonstop route can be booked online at: www.alaskaair.com.

With the Portland addition, Milwaukee's Mitchell Airportnow offers nonstop flights to 39 destinations
coast-to-coast.
