MILWAUKEE — A 29-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged in the death of a pedestrian after running a red light at Cesar Chavez and Mitchell on November 29.

Pedro Gonzalez-Iniguez is accused of coming to a stop at the south-side intersection, waiting approximately 20 seconds and proceeding through a red light, colliding with another car. Surveillance footage shows the force of the crash propelled the hit vehicle into a woman standing on the sidewalk.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries, according to the complaint.

Gonzalez-Iniguez is charged with one count of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle which holds a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of no more than $25,000.

He's due back in court on Dec. 12.
