Leinenkeugel's 10th street brewery in downtown Milwaukee, owned by Miller Coors, wants to expand.

The process is still in its early stages, and the $50 million expansion is leaving city leaders excited because it brings the possibility of more jobs.

"People here like to drink beer, historically brewing has been our strong suit, we're really excited about it, its great news for Milwaukee," said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

They say they must expand to meet market demand.

"It means more jobs, it means an iconic company is sinking its roots even deeper in our community. It's a very strong name throughout the state of Wisconsin, through the Midwest, and to have a stronger presence here in Milwaukee is something that we're really excited about," said Barrett.

Willie Johnson Jr. is county supervisor for the 13th District. He thinks it's a good idea, but wants Leinenkeugel's to fill the new positions with people from that area.

"They've got to be responsible to the people who live around there as it relates to jobs, I am hopeful that the expansion means the company itself will look toward partnering with hillside residents," said Johnson.
