MILWAUKEE -- At least two people were injured in a heavy apartment fire on 9th and Galena Monday morning.
Fire crews responded just after 5 a.m. -- and rescued a man inside the building on the first floor and a woman off the second-floor balcony.
The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. One firefighter also sustained a minor cut on his hand.
According to the investigation, the fire began on the first floor and spread upstairs. In total, four apartments sustained damage. Estimated damage amounts are still unknown at this time.
Fire officials are still at the scene investigating.
