MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office responded to several crashes on the freeway system that caused significant backups Thursday.
One crash on I-94 caused authorities to briefly close northbound traffic at the Drexel Ave. exit.
In another incident, a semi-truck jackknifed on Interstate 41/94 near 15th Street, causing the right lanes to be blocked.
Both crashes took place during extended downpours in the Milwaukee area.
Extreme heat is expected in Milwaukee County over the next few days.
