MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a two-car crash that killed two people on the city's north side Tuesday night.

An initial investigation from MPD found that the two victims were occupants in a vehicle that did not regard a stop sign, and then was hit by another vehicle.

A 23-year-old Milwaukee man and a 22-year-old Milwaukee man were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, in the 4800 block of West Keefe Avenue around 8:20 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle they were in was arrested by MPD.

The occupants of the other vehicle remained on scene and are cooperating with police, according to MPD.

The Milwaukee Fire Department had initially reported that two victims had died in a shooting and crash and a third person was injured. TMJ4 News has updated this report with the information from the Milwaukee Police Department.

The Milwaukee Police Department confirmed that the driver heard gunshots while driving and subsequently disregarded the stop sign.

Although an autopsy is underway, police say no one sustained any gun wounds.
