MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner has confirmed the death of a 49-year-old Milwaukee man at the Milwaukee County Jail early Monday.
At about 3:40 a.m., an inmate recently booked into the jail experienced a medical emergency, the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Prior to being booked into the jail, the inmate was medically cleared at an area hospital, police said.
Medical aid was rendered, and the Milwaukee Fire Department was contacted and responded. While in an MFD medical unit, the inmate died, the Sheriff's Office said in the release.
The man's identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy, and the results are pending.
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is handling the investigation.
