MILWAUKEE -- A lost and shivering child is safe thanks to the quick actions of a Milwaukee County Transit System driver.
Karen Martinez was driving on Route 80 early in the morning on October 9 when she saw the little boy, 5, near N. 84th St. and W. Lancaster Ave. He didn't have any socks or shoes.
Martinez picked the boy up and carried him on a bus, telling him to "go find a seat where it's warm." She then called for help and kept the boy company while they waited for officers to arrive.
In the meantime, the boy drew a photo for Martinez, and even got to sit in her seat behind the wheel.
The boy was later reunited with his family. MCTS says this is the fifth time in the last year a driver has found a lost child.
