Victim identified: Pedestrian struck, killed near 27th and Parnell in Milwaukee

The victim, a 71-year-old Greenfield man, died from his injuries at the scene.

MILWAUKEE — A pedestrian was struck and killed near 27th and Parnell Wednesday evening.

The victim, a 71-year-old Greenfield man, died from his injuries at the scene. He was identified as Lawrence Strzelecki from Greenfield.

The Milwaukee Police Department says it happened around 7:15 p.m.

The driver remained at the scene. Police identified the driver as a 56-year-old man from Illinois.

According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office, Strzelecki was reported missing by his family nearly an hour before the incident occurred.

The driver told authorities he ran out in the street and didn't see him.

Less than 24 hours later, a second pedestrian was struck along the same busy Milwaukee Street.

A 77-year-old Milwaukee man is in "grave condition" after being struck by a driver near Layton and Greenfield on Thursday.

Police say that driver also remained on scene and is cooperating with police.
