Mayor Tom Barrett approves Milwaukee's tiny home project

MILWAUKEE — The tiny home project in Milwaukee is now officially a go.

On Monday, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett signed legislation allowing the zoning change for the tiny home project.

New homes will be built near N 60th St. and Greentree on Milwaukee's northwest side. These homes will benefit homeless veterans in Milwaukee.

"It will allow veterans, men and women, who have served our country to have a home in the city of Milwaukee that they can call their own," said Mayor Barrett.

The Milwaukee homes were designed based off a model created by the Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin's Racine Veteran Village.

Now that this legislation is approved, work will begin on building the community of tiny homes.
