At Mayfair Mall, the line for Build-A-Bear’s “Pay Your Age” day brought lines that at one point stretched all around the second floor.
This morning, the teddy-bear retailer announced it was closing lines across the country because of overcrowding.
"When we first got inside, it was kind of chaotic," said Sonya Bradley, who brought about 20 kids from a local daycare to the mall so they could participate in the promotion.
Bradley said she was grateful her group arrived at Mayfair before the crowds outside of the store ballooned.
"We made it just in time," Bradley said.
As for those who have not yet made it into a store, Build-A-Bear will continue to serve guests already in line until stores close.
