The Milwaukee Area Technical College- Downtown Milwaukee Campus is coordinating a food giveaway for students Friday, Jan. 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to a survey MATC conducted in August 2020, 60% of MATC students suffer from food insecurity, with 46% turning to food pantries, WIC, or SNAP programs for help purchasing food.

To help combat those numbers, the MATC Student Nutrition Program and the MATC Student Resource Center will be giving away food to up to 650 MATC students as their spring semester begins.

Students can drive up to the curved driveway in front of the H Building located at 700 W. Highland Avenue, and food will be placed in their cars.

Students can also walk up to the distribution site and take food home in bags.

The food giveaway is for MATC students only. Students should bring their school IDs with them.
