MILWAUKEE — Whether you're a fan of deep dish, thin, Milwaukee style or pan-baked, you've likely found your go-to spot for 'za in your neighborhood. So it's pretty awesome when the Wall Street Journal finds your fave to be one of the best in the country.

In the article, the WSJ lists these 10 pizza joints as "the most meaningful," not necessarily the "Top 10." The eclectic decor and the quirky staff in red stilettos bring you in, but the original recipes keep you coming back.

"Maria's Special" is thin, crispy crust, with sausage, onions and mushrooms. You're going to want to bring your family — these pizzas are big! "She wanted to feed everybody!" said Bonnie Crivello, Maria's Pizza manager.

Maria has since passed the pizza peel to the second and third generation of female owners.

To stay true to its roots, Maria's Pizza, which is at 5025 W. Forest Home Ave., remains a dry establishment and cash only.
