ORIGINAL STORY:
Officials issued a mandatory evacuation for a gas leak in Sun Prairie, officials at the Sun Prairie Fire Department told our sister station WISC-TV. 60 to 80 homes were reportedly evacuated under the order.
Officials said residents need to get to the Sun Prairie High School or vacate the area.
The area around the leak evacuated is within a half-mile of Main Street and Whitetail Drive.
Officials said while it’s urgent, there is "minimal to no known threat to life or property."
Dane County dispatchers said the call came in at 8:25 p.m. Friday.
The evacuation site is east of downtown, where last month another gas leak caused a deadly explosion killing a Sun Prairie Firefighter.
