The man responsible for attacking two people and attempting to carjack one outside of Jen's Sweet Treats was charged Thursday.
Fredrick Blackshire attacked a 75-year-old man in the City of Cudahy Sunday. He punched the man in the face multiple times, knocked him to the ground and kicked him repeatedly for "no reason," according to the criminal complaint.
The 75-year-old was transported to the hospital and diagnosed with a broken jaw in two places and was required to undergo immediate surgery.
After attacking the 75-year-old, Blackshire went up to the owner of Jen's Sweet Treats, Jennifer Clark, who was sitting in her vehicle near the Cudahy shop. Blackshire attempted to pull her from the vehicle and punched her in the face multiple times.
A bystander was able to restrain Blackshire after he left Clark in her vehicle. Police then took him into custody where he refused to answer any questions and caused further altercations including punching one officer in the jaw.
Blackshire is charged with second degree reckless injury, attempt robbery (use of force) and battery to a law enforcement officer. He faces fines up to $60,000 and/or over 25 years in prison.
