Racine man in custody after hitting woman with car

Mount Pleasant Police arrested a Racine man who hit a woman with his vehicle Friday.

The man is being held on charges of attempted 1st degree intentional homicide and strangulation and suffocation.

Police say that the suspect was at the River Root Parkway with a 20-year-old female when an argument ensued and he physically assaulted her. The woman was able to break free from the suspect and run toward a bystander for help. The suspect then got into his vehicle and accelerated toward the woman, hitting her as she attempted to run away.

The suspect crashed into a wooden fence. The bystander helped the woman into his vehicle and drove her to a safe location before calling police.

She was then taken to Froedtert Hospital and was treated and released for non life threatening injuries.

The suspect was taken to Acension Hospital for minor injuries and then transported to Racine County Jail.
