Man arrested after leading police on chase, crashing into car occupied by pregnant woman

A man was taken into custody after leading police on a chase Monday evening, ultimately crashing into another vehicle occupied by a pregnant woman.

Milwaukee police said a man was driving a vehicle recklessly on the 2700 block of N. Atkinson Avenue and was wanted for a domestic incident. When officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, the driver fled and led them on a pursuit.

The suspect lost control and crashed into another vehicle on the 2700 block of W. Highland, police say. The driver fled on foot, but was arrested after a foot pursuit.

The vehicle that was hit in the incident was occupied by a 56-year-old woman, a 26-year-old man, 25-year-old woman and 5-year-old child. The 25-year-old woman was 6-months pregnant and had to be extricated from the vehicle. Police said she suffered serious injuries and lost the baby due to the injuries from the crash.

The other occupants of the vehicle were received non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
