Winnie Karanja, 28, of Madison has been named one of Forbes' esteemed 30 Under 30.
The founder and executive director of Maydm wants to create a space for girls and students of color who are interested in the STEM space.
Maydm focuses on equipping girls and students of color with the technical skills needed to become innovators and technology leaders, according to their website.
Karanja has worked on national data projects, led economic development initiatives, and has a background in education, technology and workforce development.
She has a Masters of Science in Developmental Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Education with International Politics from Aberystwyth University in Wales, United Kingdom.
