WEST BEND — Consider the Lilies in West Bend will give out free bouquets all day Wednesday as part of the nationwide 'Petal It Forward' event.
Petal It Forward is in partnership with the Society of American Florists and is in response to the data showing the positive emotional benefits of flowers. Visitors will be given two bouquets—one to keep and one to give to someone else.
"We see the positive impact day in and day out when we make our flower deliveries," said Amanda Strassburg of Consider the Lilies in a news release. "People love to get flowers ‘just because,' so we wanted to create random smiles today and give people a chance to do the same for someone else."
The Society of American Florists, Rutgers, Harvard and Texas A&M have conducted studies that concluded flowers have a beneficial impact on emotions.
Other local flower shops participating in 'Petal It Forward' include Bank of Flowers in Menomonee Falls and Union Grove Floral.
